0145 Jenbacher Pony various colours unpowered

In about 1950 a series of legendary industrial railway locos were introduced by the Jenbach factory in Tyrol. The 8HP 'Jenbacher pony' and the outwardly similar types JW15, JW20 and the Jenbach 20GS. The Jenbach JW20 was powered by a horizontal single cylinder four-stroke diesel engine with pre-heat chamber. Heavy flywheels gave smooth running and helped starting the engine. The 8HP engine was equipped with a convection cooling system (the other types with rotary pumps), a fuel container with a capacity of 12.5 l, and an oil bath to filter off dust for the air intake and a silencer. It was started with a crank handle and in other types by an electric starter. The transmission between the engine and the two axles was through an oil and dust-proof two speed gearbox and flexible clutch. Adjustable disc clutches allowed gentle starting in forward or reverse as well as smooth gear changing. The gears remained engaged and ran in an oil bath. All shafts were in ball bearings. The drive wheels were of individual castings. The chassis framework was of welded steel. The axles were propelled by chainsand ran in roller bearings. The other chassis equipment consisted of a front and rear push/pull arrangement, a four block handbrake with guide slot and adjustable brake-rods, rail sweepers, as well as a seat which incorporated a tool box. The diesel loco was equipped with sanding equipment. An easily mountable driver's compartment roof could be provided on special order. For use in pits and/or mines the diesel locomotive "Jenbach 20" could be equipped with a basic exhaust washing plant, electrical lighting and a fire-extinguishing system. With a hook traction power of up to 900 kg, a dragging load of up to 90 t could be achieved on the level. The maximum speed that could be achieved was 8 km/h. The operational area was not limited to field lines, work lines, building enterprises and road construction. These locomotives were worked satisfactorily also in quarries, lime burning plants, brickyards, coal mines, gallery construction, mining industry with sawmills as well as in large-scale agricultural enterprises and with forest lines (e.g. Klammbachwaldbahn in Tirol). Weight. 3920 kg gross approx. Length 2340 mm Width 1100 mm Guage 600 to 1000 mm Height: 1350 mm. Jenbacher locomotives are available on show at the Rhein-Schauen Club, at the Field Industry Museum and at the GrossSchwechat railway musem.

The accurate scale model of 750/760mm is supplied in various house colours (dark-green, lightgreen, dark-brown, light brown, grey, white, red, orange, yellow, blue).
