SNCB 2-axle "RAILTRANS" Recycling/Bulk Wagon No: 555 9 007-7

These private wagons are usually employed in block trains for the transport of timber offcuts, sawdust, salvaged paper and old textiles, between sawmills, paper factories, and recycling plants throughout Europe.

The wagon is loaded from above (opening 12.37 metres x 2 metres), has a load capacity of 182 cubic metres, and may be covered by a net or a lid. Unloading is effected by large side flaps patented by Railtrans which may be opened from above or below. The load is normally pushed out and falls into a bunker. By virtue of this ingenious construction handling times are kept to a minimum

Many of the wagons are converted in France on the chassis frames of older wagons.

The suspension can be adjusted so that the buffer height clearance does not fall below the minimum - 1070mm, under maximum load.
